Later, this establishment became part of the William Reid hotel chain, with the designation reid's carmo hotel.
Ellen Taylor, in 1882, still the one designated mile's hotel, records it as having been for many years the best hotel in Funchal, not only for the comfort, cleanliness and attention it dispensed to guests. The hotel closed in the second decade of the 19th century. xx, being occupied by the base of the Guild of Embroidery Industrialists of Madeira.
